How current is the data?

Flashes are available through the API within seconds of detection, with the public dashboard map refreshing every 15 seconds.

What coordinate format does the API use?

Standard decimal degrees (latitude, longitude), for example Chicago is roughly 41.88, -87.63. Use the bounding box parameters shown in the code sample to filter to any US region.
